Injection Lipolysis (IL) Therapy
What is PPC and where does it come from?
Phosphatidylcholine (PPC) and the Human Body
Phosphatidylcholine has to do with the smallest structural element in the human body, i.e. the human cell, or more precisely, the protective mantle of the cell, the membrane.

The active substance, Phosphatidylcholine (PPC), is a lecithin extract taken from the soy bean. This extraordinary nutrient is responsible for the structural and mechanical element of every biological membrane. Emulsifying fat, lowering cholesterol, and activating the immune system response are just a few life sustaining properties of PPC. PPC is also the communicator molecule that regulates and controls what physically enters and exits each cell via its membrane.
Phosphatidylcholine (PPC), and especially the form of the substance used in Injection Lipolysis at LipoNOW, belongs to the lecithin group. Today, the PPC extracted from the soy bean is in such high purity that it contains no proteins and therefore triggers no allergic responses.
Some Life Sustaining Properties That PPC is Responsible for Include:
- The structure & function of all living (biological) membranes
- Activates & regulates enzymes & receptors on a cellular level
- Emulsifies fat in the blood, GI tract & in bile
- Influences immune responses within the cell
- Converts fat and cholesterol into substances that are easier metabolized
PPC in Injection Lipolysis
In aesthetics, PPC permanently dissolves fat cells and reduces cellulite, wrinkles and stretch marks while revitalizing and retracting the skin.
LipoNOW uses standardized protocols that are scientifically proven safe and effective by world-known lipolysis expert, Dr. Franz Hasengschwandtner. Dr. Franz is the Scientific and Medical Director of the international physician group, NETWORK-Lipolysis. Dr. Franz has been involved in adipose research since 1972. As an ER physician/surgeon, Dr. Franz used this life sustaining nutrient with great success. PPC, approved by the FDA in the 50's for intravenous (IV) use to treat patients with arthrosclerosis and fat embolism. In 2002, Dr. Franz heard that a Brazilian Dematologist, Dr. Patricia Rittes, M.D., was using this same emulsifier for cosmetic purpose but was lacking research. Immediately Dr. Franz formed a network involving clinics, hospitals and other physicians around the world in order to collect and document evidence based research in large numbers to assist him in developing standardized protocols that were safe and effective.
This marked the beginning of a revolutionary nonsurgical and natural therapy that permanently eliminates undesirable fat in areas of face and body without surgery. By the end of 2009, Dr. Franz has trained over 1500 physicians in 54 countries who, together, perform 3000 treatments daily. Within the NETWORK, over ninety thousand treatments worldwide have been successfully completed without any serious adverse reactions.
In 2005, Carol Cifelli, R.N., B.S.N., founder of LipoNOW, trained side by side with Dr. Franz at the first USA workshop held in Denver, CO. Dr. Franz is available to anyone who is interested in further developing this natural, nourishing and non-surgical therapy. Media is saying it's the greatest medical breakthrough since Botox. Carol Cifelli, RN, BSN, is in close contact with Dr. Franz and its network members. Dr. Franz is LipoNOW's Senior Medical Advisor.
Research Has Demonstrated the Following Facts:
- The solution (PPC) is visible via ultrasound for up to eight weeks in the fat pocket and patients continue loosing inches for up to 6 months after a single treatment.
- The greatest amount of fat loss is seen between four and six weeks post-treatment.
Post-treatment, every patient will experience some temporary expected side-effects, including swelling, reddening of the tissue, bruising, itching and mild to moderate discomfort. After a few days, however, most of these effects are minimized.
If more than one treatment is desired, patients must wait a minimum of eight weeks before their next treatment. Giving subsequent treatments too soon can be counter-productive, limiting its effectiveness and minimizing the final outcome.
